Businesses have until November 24 to put their French face forward

As previously reported, Quebec companies that display a non-French trademark on outdoor signage in the absence of a French generic term, slogan or description have until November 24, 2019 to comply with the new rules requiring a “sufficient presence of French”.

Government of Québec proposes new regulation for retail signage

As a response to the decision of Québec (Procureure générale) v. Magasins Best Buy ltée, 2015 QCCA 747, the Government of Québec recently announced that it intends to bring forward a new regulation requiring companies with non-French names to add wording in French to their exterior signs.
